BUILDING BRIDGES CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

"A community oriented approach to early care and education"

Help our efforts to increase the availability of quality infant-toddler child care services for working families.

MISSION STATEMENT

We strive to support the diverse group of working families that exist in Alameda County by providing a safe, nurturing, and optimal infant-toddler child care environment where young children can thrive in all areas of development. In order to provide a high quality early childhood environment our agency must build community partnerships enabling us to better support early care and education, where together we can provide the best possible care to our youngest members of society.

PHILOSOPHY

To utilize evidenced-based research, a culturally sensitive and inclusive approach to serve the divers e groups of families that exist in  Alameda County. We futher support our staff, understanding that professionally trained and well-educated providers, who have strong partnerships with the families we serve are key characteristics to providing optimal early care and educational environments for children.

OVERVIEW

Building Bridges Child Development Center aims to support working parents by providing the quality early care and educational child care services they need to sustain or obtain full-time employment, where maintaining employment is crucial to establishing a sustainable source of income for families overcoming poverty.

We additionally intend on serving families from community-based organizations who desire/need a safe and developmentally appropriate play-space for young children to socialize, learn and discover. Where these young children can further engage with their parents and other children, further optimizing their healthy development and making them better prepared for when they enter school.

As leaders in our community we strive to bridge the large scale of child development programs that have differing identities of what "quality child care" is (Common Vision, Different Paths" Zero to Three, Pre-K Now) and strive to remain inline with the Alameda County Child Care Planning Council's Approved Statement on High Quality Principles & Standards.

I. An articulated philosophy that addresses the needs of children, families, educators and the community (stated above in our mission & program philosophy)

II. Continual and consistent program evaluation (our program understands the importance of on-going and consistent evaluation and have various structures in place that will monitor our daily operations of child care services)

These programs include support and resources provided by:

- Program for Infant-Toddler Care (PITC)

- Alameda County's Every Child Count's Mentoring Program

- Early Childhood Mentor Program

- Infant-Toddler Environmental Rating System (ITERS)

- The National Association for the Education of Young Children's (NAEYC) Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) Manual (Overview)

Screening & Assessment Tools:

- Ages & Stages Questionnaire (D/SE)

- Desired Results Developmental Profile-Revised (DRDP-R)

III. Ongoing learning and support for educators
